Setting Up Your Scoutbook Plus Account
A my.Scouting.org account is the key to Scoutbook Plus, online training, and everything else Scouting America runs online.
my.Scouting.org is Scouting America’s single sign-on — one account gets you into Scoutbook Plus (where advancement, activities and the unit roster live), online training, and event registration. Scoutbook Plus itself lives at advancements.scouting.org, but you sign into it with the same my.Scouting.org account.
Logging in for the first time
- Go to my.Scouting.org (or straight to advancements.scouting.org for Scoutbook Plus — it’s the same login).
- Enter your my.Scouting.org credentials — the same username and password you used to register your Scout or to take online training.
- Forgot your login? Select Forgot Username / Password? on the sign-in screen.
To find your unit’s roster once you’re signed in as an adult leader: open the Menu in the top left, find your unit under the organization dropdown, and select Organization Manager.
Getting connected to your Scout: registration updates typically sync into Scoutbook Plus within 24–48 hours. If it’s been longer than that and you still don’t see your Scout, email your Scoutmaster — 700B or 700G — a unit leader may need to send you a connection invite.
Creating an account for a Scout
Every person needs their own account — don’t share a parent’s login with your Scout, and don’t reuse a parent or guardian’s email address for the Scout’s account.
- Get your Scout’s Member ID (BSA ID), full legal name, and date of birth from your Scoutmaster if you don’t already have them.
- Go to my.Scouting.org and select Create an Account, on the left side of the page.
- Use a unique email address for the Scout — not a parent or guardian’s.
- Enter the Scout’s name and date of birth exactly as they appear on the official Scouting America registration. Matching them precisely is what links the account to the Scout’s Member ID automatically.
If something doesn’t match up
Scouting America’s own Scoutbook Knowledge Base covers more scenarios than fit here — lost Member IDs, multiple Scouts in one family, merging duplicate accounts, and more. For anything specific to Troop 700 — a roster that looks wrong, a Scout who isn’t showing up — email your Scoutmaster: 700B · 700G.
